The Orthodox Calendar begins on September 1. Throughout
the year we celebrate holidays and schedule fellowship educational and
fellowship activities. Here are just a few:
Labor Day Barbeque
On Labor Day Sunday we have an evening potluck followed by songs around
the campfire.
Parish Feast Day
On September 13 we celebrate the dedication in the year 336 of the Church
of the Resurrection (Holy Sepulchre) in Jerusalem. Vespers on the eve
at 6:30 p.m. Matins on the day at 9:00 a.m. with Divine
Liturgy at 10:00 a.m.
St. Nicholas Party
Sunday School children gather after church on the Sunday closest to St.
Nicholas Day, December 6th. Fr. John reads the story of St. Nicholas -
then, a special visitor!
Theophany, the Baptism of Christ
On Theophany
Day, January 6th, we close our Tacoma church (unless it falls on a Sunday)
and head for Holy Trinity Temple, Wilkeson where we serve Divine Liturgy
and form a procession to bless the waters of Gale Creek.

Progressive House Blessing Party
On the weekend of or following Theophany, Jan. 6th, we go from house to
house, blessing and feasting, truly enjoying each others hospitality.
Pascha, the Resurrection of Christ
Pascha,
Orthodox Easter: the center of our spiritual lives! It is celebrated
after Great
Lent, and Holy
Week. The date for Pascha usually differs from that of Western Easter.
In 2005 Pascha falls on May 1.

Temple, Wilkeson for Pentecost
