Holy Trinity Temple, Wilkeson, Washington

Our
parish was founded in the eastern Pierce County town of Wilkeson in 1896
under the auspices of the Russian
Orthodox Church. Holy Trinity Temple, a wood frame chapel topped by
a blue Russian style onion dome cupola, was constructed there
in 1900.

Holy Trinity, stands today in pristine condition, and is used for
occasional services, weddings and funerals. Each year, on Pentecost Sunday,
we close the church in Tacoma and celebrate the Altar Feast
of our beautiful temple in Wilkeson.

In 1970 the Russian Orthodox Church granted the North American Church
administrative independence; forming the
Orthodox Church in America
Holy Resurrection Church, Tacoma, Washington

Having
outgrown our church in Wilkeson, and desiring to bring the Orthodox Christian
Faith to more people in Southern Puget Sound, our parish moved from Wilkeson
in 1996 to a quiet country setting just minutes southeast of downtown
Tacoma, Washington. Buildings already in place on this new property were improved for
parish use, and as a result we have an intermediate
setting that can accommodate a growing church as we prepare to build a
traditional Orthodox Christian temple for future generations.
Like the mustard seed in the Gospel (Matt. 13:31-32) our community
is growing into a shady tree under which those who are outside our pasture
might find shelter. To this end our services are conducted in English,
enabling people from all backgrounds to find a spiritual home with us.
